This High-Flow Water Pump is built for 1967–1972 Full Size Jeep Wagoneer and J-Series Trucks equipped with the Buick 350 “Dauntless” V8. It’s designed to improve cooling performance where many classic Full Size Jeeps struggle the most: idle and low RPM operation.
Unlike a conventional stock replacement pump, this unit is engineered to increase coolant flow at low engine speeds, helping move heat out of the engine more effectively when you’re sitting in traffic, creeping through town, or idling. As RPM increases, flow rate transitions back toward normal at higher engine speeds to help prevent excessive coolant velocity. The result is a more controlled cooling curve across real-world driving conditions.
This pump uses a CNC-machined, anodized aluminum impeller with an increased vane count compared to traditional stamped/cast designs. The tighter impeller-to-plate clearance improves pump efficiency, raises head pressure, and helps reduce internal turbulence/cavitation—delivering more consistent coolant circulation and long service life.
If you’re building a dependable driver restoration and want better low-speed cooling without reinventing the entire cooling system, this is a smart upgrade for Buick 350 Dauntless-powered FSJs.
