Disc/Drum Brake Proportioning Valve – Fits 1974–1991 Full Size Jeep

The proportioning valve is a critical part of the brake system on your Full Size Jeep. Its job is to balance brake pressure between the front discs and rear drums, ensuring safe, even braking. Without a functioning valve, the front brakes can lock prematurely or the rears may not receive enough pressure, leading to poor stopping performance.

This valve is a replacement for the factory disc/drum proportioning valve found on Wagoneers, Cherokees, and Grand Wagoneers. 

Why you might need this part

• Spongy brakes even after bleeding the system
• Uneven braking between the front and rear
• Brake warning light illuminated
• Visible leaks or corrosion on the original valve

Bleeding Tip

To prevent the valve from shifting during brake bleeding, a bleeder plug tool is recommended. This installs in place of the warning light switch to hold the metering rod in position. After bleeding, simply remove the tool and reinstall the switch.
