Advertised as “The Ultimate Wagon” in the mid ‘80’s, the Jeep Wagoneer is coming back strong and gaining in popularity. Update your dash with the new direct fit RTX system designed to fit the 1986-91 Jeep Wagoneer or 1986-88 Jeep J-Trucks.
The RTX series is the latest from Dakota Digital, focused on retaining that stock look without sacrificing the late-model features you love. Every effort has been put forth to incorporate OEM design elements regarding the layout, face styling and indicators. A casual glance may dismiss these as original equipment, but once you hit the switch and the LED backlighting comes on in your favorite color scheme, all doubts will be removed.
Starting from scratch, CNC machined housings are filled with electronics designed and built in-house, helping Dakota Digital once again raise the bar for aftermarket instrumentation. The high-definition TFT message centers can be fully configured to display just about any piece of information needed. As you’ve come to expect from Dakota Digital, the RTX series utilizes a central control box to make installation and setup as easy as possible. (Optional) Light Dimming Kit: Stock dimming switches will not work with Dakota Digital Instruments. The DIM-1will work with VFD3/RET, VHX, HDX and RTX instrument systems and requires a a hole measuring 3/8” in diameter. Enhance your digital dash by adding this light dimming kit to adjust the dimming feature built into your instrument system for night time driving.
(Optional) Universal Gear Shift Indicator Sending Unit: The GSS-3000 is a new generation of gear-shift (detent) position system from Dakota Digital. We’ve minimized the decoder (the brain of the system), and the new, smaller size with inboard terminals allows for easier installation. Able to be used with a Dakota Digital instrument system or on its own, this versatile unit can relay transmission gear position to a VFD, VHX, HDX or RTX instrument system, as well as the DGS-series of standalone indicators.
- Built-in outputs for reverse lights (up to 15 amps) and neutral safety switch (with supplied 30amp relay).
- Easy setup and calibration.
- User-calibrated for 2-4 forward shifter detent locations, plus Park, Reverse and Neutral.
- Stainless steel and aluminum mounting hardware included for a variety of transmissions.
(Optional) OBD II / CAN Interface Module: The BIM-01-2 OBD-II (J1850/CAN) Interface allows you to plug directly into the engine diagnostic port, extracting engine and transmission data from the vehicle's computer (ECM). The BIM-01-2 will collect and output the following information to Dakota Digital Instrument Systems *:

Due to the various factory and modified ECM's, additional data including (Intake Temp, Transmission Temp, Ambient Air Temp, Oil Pressure, and Gear Position) may be available, but will vary from application to application. Dakota Digital cannot guarantee the presence or accuracy of the Coolant Temp, Intake Temp, Transmission Temp, Ambient Air Temp, Oil Pressure, Boost or Gear Position displays since this is a function of the ECM and matching OEM functional sensors.
*The BIM-01-2 is designed to decode the information provided by the ECM through OBD-II and supply this information to the GRFX, RTX, HDX, VHX and VFD3 systems with a black plastic control module.
