Hedman Hedders, was the first mass-producer of performance exhaust headers. Among the many firsts in Hedman's history is the introduction of ceramic-metallic coating to the performance exhaust aftermarket. "Borrowed" from the aerospace industry, ceramic coatings are capable of withstanding extremely high temperatures (up to 1400º F), making them ideal for coating exhaust components. Not only does the coating improve the look of the product it is applied to, the thermal properties create a barrier that retains more exhaust heat inside the tubes to lower underhood temperatures. Higher internal exhaust temperatures also increase exhaust gas velocity to produce a mild scavenging effect, which can result in a slight increase in power.
