Transmission Compatibility:
This kit fits all 4L60-E, 4L65-E, and 4L70-E transmissions (both 2WD and 4WD versions) with the hexagonal six-bolt tailhousing—common on 1996 and newer models. Early 1997 and previous transmissions with a four-bolt pattern and non-removable bellhousing are not compatible.
Easy Output Shaft Integration:
Each kit includes a hardened alloy steel output shaft, precision-splined for the strongest possible connection. This shaft links your GM transmission directly to a 23-spline NP/NVG input shaft—providing maximum strength and a direct fit. Both 2WD and 4WD versions of the transmission are supported equally well.
Installation Notes:
Professional transmission assembly is recommended, though skilled home mechanics can accomplish the installation. Expect a 3–4 hour bench job, with the opportunity to replace seals or perform a full rebuild if desired. Transfer case disassembly is generally not needed, as the output shaft splines directly into the factory Jeep input gear.
Integrated Speed Sensor:
For seamless engine management and factory gauge compatibility, the adapter assembly integrates a Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) for the 4L60-E’s computer system. The Jeep speedometer cable or VSS can connect directly to your original gauge panel, maintaining OEM functionality.
